It’s finally sinking in. My sister, Riley, will be here in a week! One week. There are so many things I’d like to do with her that I’m not even sure where to start.
While I’m more than excited to have her come visit, I’m also a little nervous. The same thing happened when my other sister, Joelle, came to visit me in 上海 (Shanghai) a year and a half ago. We had so much fun, but I remember being so nervous about trying to figure out how to make it her best vacation ever.
Turns out she really loved just going off and exploring, and I really didn’t need to worry much at all. Of course there were a few hiccups during her stay – I got an eye infection and had to stay at home for a couple days and we tried to go to Beijing but ended up missing the flight while in the airport because they forgot to announce when the delayed flight was boarding over the intercom – but overall it was just nice to share my home with someone I care so much about.
This time around I’ve started making a list and trying to best prepare all the neat things we can go do. We probably won’t get around to doing all of them, but I’m confident there’s enough to see and do that it’s going to be fun no matter what. I won’t list things here yet for two main reasons:
1. Keep some surprises for when she actually gets here
2. Not disappoint people if we don’t actually get around to doing something
One thing I have booked is a 4 day trip for us to Chiang Mai, Thailand! I went there earlier this year with a couple friends and absolutely loved it, so I hope Riley will enjoy it just as much.
-Let me just interject with some random photos from my last Thailand trip here-
Amazing ice cream, horrible durian fruit.
All things elephant.
There is just so much I could say about Chiang Mai; so much to do, so much to see, so much to eat and it’s a cheap destination flight from here (about $200 round trip), but I’m going to wait and make a nice detailed post after we return. Plus, this time around I’ll try to take better pictures and put together a vlog, I just need to remember to charge all my camera batteries and not forget my SD cards at home…
Now I just need to be patient and wait for her to get here so we can go adventuring together!
